If she isn't crying then I would just leave her. She will eventually fall asleep. DS is 18 months and still does this sometimes. He can be in his crib for an hour and half before he falls asleep. He also does it at night and is sometimes up for an hour before he is actually asleep.

The novelty of it will wear off...

Its always something...

1st they start sleeping through the night....Great!!!!!!

2nd then they start rolling and you 're paranoid..Not so great!!!!!

3rd you mellow out some b/c everyone tells you that once they rollover its OK...Great!!!!

4th They learn to sit themselves up...UGH

5th They learn to pull themselves up..Double UGH

6th THey climb out of crib...triple UGH

Re: experienced moms

My son used to do the same thing. Once the novelty wears off she will start sleeping again. My son used to play quietly in his crib for like an hour and then take a nap. I used to get a nice break in the afternoon because the whole thing lasted like 3 hours! He loved his crib. Even if he didn't sleep I would put him in for "quiet time" with a couple of toys. Definitely keep her in the habit of going in there in the afternoon even if she doesn't nap all the time.

Re: experienced moms

DD was like this also. She decided sitting up was more fun then sleeping...eventually, she fell asleep Chat Icon
