Experiences with these 3 RE centers - North Shore LIJ, RS of NY, East Coast Fertility

Good Morning Ladies!


This is my first post here and I was hoping to get your take on 3 different centers in Nassau County:


1. North Shore LIJ Center for Human Reproduction


2. RS of NY in Mineola


3. East Coast Fertility in Plainview


I read through the posts in yesterday's similar question and found the information about your experiences with those doctors really helpful. I am just starting out in this process and I would really appreciate your input. We are lucky enough to have insurance that covers IVF right now, and the three centers listed above are all covered under our plan.


Some of you have responded to other posters and asked about their specific issues as this may make a difference in your recommendations. My husband was diagnosed with testicular cancer a few years ago - thankfully he is doing really well now, but due to that we are dealing with very low counts and motility. We have been trying for awhile now and have had no luck on our own.


We had met with Dr. Cohen from North Shore LIJ a few years ago just for a consult when we were dealing with the cancer, and we liked him, but before we start the process we thought it best to look at the other places too.
I would just love to find a doctor who was supportive and whose staff is nice and supportive as well. I imagine this process is emotional and stressful enough and I'd prefer not to deal with unhappy staff & appointment schedulers! I also work in Manhattan, so being near a LIRR station wouldn't hurt either!


Any information you ladies would like to share would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much!

Both of my DC's were conceived with RSONY...My DS was IUI and my DD was IVF ...

I have PCOS, no MF issues, but I believe one of the RE's in the practice
( perhaps Dr.Cain) does have exoertise in the MF field...

At this point I don't think we would even go through any diagnosis type of stuff, we've done that through some other doctors who deal with MF. Just looking for a good place for IUI or, more likely, IVF.

Wouldn't recommend East Coast, Plainview. I just left there myself and a couple of other girls I know left as well. FM me if you want to know more info.

I loved working with Dr. Stelling and Dr Sung at RS of NY. I went for PGD/IVF, not for infertility issues so I mainly spoke with Dr. Stelling on the phone when I had questions, but when I was in the office I always saw Dr. Sung. She is so sweet and wonderful, smart and has great bedside manner. She did my second retreival and called me every day to see how I was doing!!!

I have a healthy 5 month old girl to show from it!

And, they are right across the street from the Mineola train station!!! Very convenient!!!

East Coast Fertility DID make all of my dreams come true! I got pregnant with my now 15 MOS OlD DD the first IVF we did. We had severe male factor issues and Dr. Pena was my DR (will go see him soon to try for our 2nd) and I owe him my life...I am crying typing this:)

So, everyone has DIFFERENT experiences!

I went to North Shore, and I replied to the post yesterday so you can see my feelings there. Ultimately though, the thing that was most important to me was my chance of success.

I would use the SART website to assist you in making your decision. It shows you each clinics success rate and it even breaks it down by age and diagnosis. SART

I think all of those have excellent success rates. If there are no problems on your end, you should have a really good chance of success with IVF no matter which clinic you choose. I am now 7 weeks pregnant after my first round of IVF. We have strictly male factor issues. Good luck on your journey!

I cant say it enough Center for Human Reproduction at NSUH !!!!! They were great and I got pregnant with the first IVF cycle....

RS of NY is a great place, but everyone will recommend the office that got them pregnant.

As for me, I thank God for them everyday.
