Expired Certification
I got an e-mail from Personnel Friday before vacation started that my certification expired and I need to have a meeting with the assistant superintendent on Monday. I tried googling what to do but couldn't find an easy answer. Is there a way I could start taking care of this before going back on Monday? I am getting nervous about it. What do I have to do?

Re: Expired Certification
I would call BOCES ASAP or up to Albany to see what you need to do. Did you send in your paperwork already before the expiration date and the state just hasn't gotten to it yet?

Re: Expired Certification
Not sure if this is similar, but I was too lazy to get all my paperwork in when my provisional was expiring. I did it a few months later and they backdated my license to the date the provisional expired.

Re: Expired Certification
I called the DOE certification office & they told me what paperwork I need to send in to the State & gave me the address, etc. Also told me I have to apply for my professional cert online on the TEACH website. I still have to do it though, my initial cert expired last month so I have to do it soon. Ugh so stressful!

Re: Expired Certification
Not to scare you but I would also talk/call your Union Rep tomorrow as soon as you get into work. Unfortunately I work for a district who in the past has removed teachers from the classroom because of expired certification and I know one person who actually lost their job because of this.

I already left him an e-mail but unfortunately I don't have his number.

Re: Expired Certification
I would get the paperwork together to file an extension... If you could get it in the mail before the meeting that would be even better- you can tell them that you filed for an extension with the state and are working on the requirements for your permanent/provisional certification...
