"Exploding" Diaper situation - Please help b/f DS ruins all his clothes!
Doesn't matter whether it is a little poop or alot it inevitably leaks out one of the side legs of DS's diapers at least once per day. It gets all over everything! He is wearing size 1 pampers swaddlers and they are the right size. I'm not sure if it is my fault - maybe I am not making it tight enough around the legs? (i hate making it too tight though cause he ends up with a rash) - Maybe it is the diapers just not fitting him snug enough or maybe it is just my dirty baby?
Any advice on this issue would be GREATLY appreciated! It takes forever to clean up the mess...and it is GROSS - yesterday, he was in his carseat, it leaked through the diaper, out the side of the onesie, all over the carseat, through the buckle hole and into the storage bag underneath As you can see the situation is dire

I only had few explosives with DS. Perhaps you should go up a size. I never had a problem w/ the swadllers.

First of all
I have not personally experienced it quite so bad but certainly a little. When you put the diaper on your DC, make sure the material around the leg holes are pulled out. I found that the diaper leaked when the material got tucked in.

He is only 6 wks though and not that big - he hasn't been to the doc since 3 wks but i think he probably weighs around 10lbs and is maybe 22 inches - you think he should be in size 2?

Thank you - I definitely do this. He is a squirmy little guy so sometimes the diaper gets pulled around but I have been pullin it out.

You might want size 2.
I have been getting better at trying to fit the diaper snug against his leg, but like you, I am afraid. Last night was the ultimate though. I left Tanger and heard him poop. I figured I could hit the pharmacy on the way home, then change him. Well, from pharmacy to home (about 15 minutes) I heard him continuously pooping. By the time I got home he was screaming. I layed him down to change him and poop poured out the top of the diaper and all over his back. It went through the onesie, outfit and changing pad. Poop was everywhere.
I do know that if you at least wash the clothes in cold water, scrubbing with soap, the poop comes out. I try to wash it in the sink as soon as I can get it off him. You need to rub the material together and scrub that soap in. Then launder as usual when you can.

Maybe switch to Huggies #1? Maybe the Huggies cut may cover his little bum a little better.

I posted about the same issue a month or so ago! It's awful, I know! All I can say is that over time, she stopped doing it everyday. Now it's only once in a while, and I just expect it.
Here's the thread in case there's any ideas useful to you: http://www.lifamilies.com/chat/topic.aspx?ID=195505
Good luck!

Thank you Isn't funny how you can actually hear them pooping? When my mom was babysitting and heard this she told me to ask the ped about it because she thought DS was a freak

I haven't had it quite that bad, but definitely have had some leakage.
When you're putting the swaddler on, make sure that that little flap of fabric inside the leg elastic is facing inward, It acts as a poop-catcher, but often is folded down facing the wrong way.
Good luck!

You actually wash the poop out? I just throw the outfit away
OP try to go up a size and try Luvs. I never have a problem with leaks with Luvs.
