Extended Breastfeeding
How long do you think is "too long"? DS is 13 months and even though I am pregnant, it seems there is no stopping anytime in the future. Everyone (my MIL, sister, mom, even DH) keeps saying that it's about time that I stop. That he's getting too old, that I need to stop and put my foot down and not wait for him to stop but I don't know if I am even ready. There was a section in What to Expect the First Year that talked about it not really being beneficial to the baby after a year and that it wasn't the same milk anymore and it might even be harmful. But then I just read a Dr. Sears article saying that it is really beneficial to the baby.
If you were or are an extended breastfeeding how did you decided to keep going? Did you just follow the lead of DC or did you do research? Did you have people try to get you to stop?

Re: Extended Breastfeeding
I BF'd DD until she was 21 months, so I say keep going! More than likely since you are pregnant he will wean anyway - your milk will taste different to him and you will also start to produce less. But I say as long as you and he are happy - Go for it!!

Re: Extended Breastfeeding
keep going its good for his health, but its even better for yours at this point.
there is a lot of evidence extended bf correlates to women who live longer and healthier

Re: Extended Breastfeeding
I stopped completely at like 15/16 months-- but after 12/13 months, I was only doing it when she woke up and at bedtime. She self weaned.

Re: Extended Breastfeeding
I would talk to your pediatrician and OB about the benefits and risks associated with breast feeding while pregnant and go from there.
