I have seen this before. I laugh when I think of the girl saying it is better than Mango. Who are these crazy girls anyway?

Re: I am supportive of extended breastfeeding ... BUT
It's not for me. I felt it was time for me to stop after they turned 16-17 months. So watching this made me feel a little uncomfortable because I can't imagine doing it.
I wonder if there has been or will be any negative impact on the child's social adjustment. I wonder if there will be any long term emotional challenges suffered by this girl due to what seems (to me) to be a slightly unnatural attachment to her mother's breasts.
BUT it really seems like the mother is simply trying to do what she thinks is best for her babies - just like we all do. And it doesn't seem abusive at all - merely a little odd and out of place. So I guess I can't judge.

I agree.. plus i wonder if bfing that long could have a negative effect to the mother too?

Re: I am supportive of extended breastfeeding ... BUT
These girls spend their days drawing pictures of breast feeding, naming their mom's breasts, not wanting her to wear a bra to set her boobs free, and then the rest of the day picking berries and playing the ukelele?
Time to get these girls an Xbox or something!!!

Re: I am supportive of extended breastfeeding ... BUT
The mother in the video disgusts me. Not just b/c I find it revolting to be breastfeeding school age children, but because of what she wrote on in her essay regarding extended breastfeeding.
She was saying that formula, since derived from cows milk is meant for baby cows and not human children and we are setting back society from developing properly b/c of formula.
It made me sick to my stomach. What does she think toddlers and adults consume?? Maybe her and her family still don't consume a drop of cows milk but people have thrived on it forever.
And people like this, who assume the world CAN breastfeed are narrow minded, self absorbed and so caught up with their own tiny little version of what is perfect that they can't step outside themselves and realize people do what is best for themselves and their kids and it doesnt' always mean breastfeeding!
I feel badly for the girls. I view it as a form of child abuse. That may seem harsh, but I think SHE is doing a disservice to those kids by continuing this.

ITA, but I would think that even the most militant of BF/LC would say that there have to be some social or developmental repercussions.

Re: I am supportive of extended breastfeeding ... BUT
My concern is what the reprecussions will be on the child as they get older and develop, I def. think there is an unnatural attachement there.
