Re: External exams

I think it depends.
I went yesterday and I did have a full bladder ... I told the tech that and she said to stay that way b/c oftentimes it helps them see a little better...

Re: External exams

Honestly - I think every office is different. I never needed a full bladder for any of my sonos. I would call the office and find out.

Re: External exams

It depends on where you go and how good their machine is. At my regular docs office for the big ultrasound you have to drink 20oz. of water beforehand which is horrible. But I went to Duke hospital this time around for it and because their maching was more advanced I didn't need too. Which was a lot more enjoyable!

I agree -
I was told to empty my bladder before my 12 week ultrascreen, and when I called for my Level II, they told me that I didn't need to have a full bladder for that either. I have my 'big sonos' done at the hospital and their equipment is really good, maybe this is why?

Re: External exams

The sono tech told me taht the reason you need a full bladder is to push up the uterus and cervix so they can get a good picture. After they get those pictures you can usually pee.
