Extremely sore throat
A few weeks ago, I had a very sore throat and went to see the doc. Strep came back negative, but the doc gave me Augmentin to treat the bad post nasal drip that he said was leaving "tracks" down the back of my throat which was causing me the pain. After a day, the pain was gone and I felt much better.
Then this week - the pain is back. Really bad Fri & Sat night so I go to the doc Sunday morning. Different doc sees me, strep was negative again, and doesn't prescribe anything. I told him I was looing to get what I got last time since it really did the trick. Nope, won't give me anything. Tells me to gargle with salt water  and wait for it to pass in a day or so.
Today - the pain is pretty bad again. I keep trying the OTC throat numbing lozenges, but it's not doing the trick.
UGHHHH 
Do I go back to the doc? Wait it out?? Any suggestions??

UGHH I get the sameee thing!
Its the post nasal drip taht gets me
Is your room dry at night?
Mine is and I cant do anything about it! :(
Try to sleep with your head a lil elevated and some vaseline in ur nose before you go to bed..maybe this will work!

this helps me: i use a neti pot and breathe in steam w/ 2 drops of eucalyptus oil to clear out your sinus cavities.
i've been sick this week and ended up w/ laryngitis. the neti pot and the steam w/ the oil really helped.
feel better!

could it possibly be acid reflux? there is such a thing as SILENT acid reflux...
honestly - i'd get to an ENT....they can stick a camera down your throat (VERY easily) and answer that ?? immediately!

I had this happen with a student in my class... 2 strep tsts came back neg... turns out she had a throat infection. They think it was caused by flu type b.. i would ask for a blood test.

Have you tried a humidifier? They are a god-send and not very expensive.
