Facial beauty mark/mole removal...
I went to my derm and wanted a mole removed from my nose (small but raised) and he wouldn't touch it...said to leave it alone b/c mole removal leaves scars...but I want it gone
Anyone here ever had a mole removed from their face? Any scarring? Where did you go? Any feedback is appreciated!!!
TIA!

Re: Facial beauty mark/mole removal...
I never did it but try a plastic surgeon They are better at removing things on the face with less scaring. Only thing is- it probably wont' be covered by insurance in that case.

I would also recommend a plastic surgeon. My DH had a mole removed from his chest by a dermatologist and the scar is AWFUL.

My sister had a mole removed from her face by a dermatologist, and if she has a scar it is very slight because I can not see it.

I had one scraped off on the side of my face and it was perfect. As long as they don't dig you are fine. BUT then it may come back...

Plastic surgeon all the way. Especially in that spot.

Re: Facial beauty mark/mole removal...
I had one removed from my face which was on my upper lip. I went with a plastic surgeon and I do have a scar which is hardly noticeable. I didn't care about a scar, I just hated the mark and was very self-concious about it. When I had mine taken out/off, it was three layers deep and I needed 9 stitches. The mark was no bigger than a pencil eraser! Totally worth it for me. I went to a facial/hand surgeon in Smithtown and it was an in-office procedure.

I had a mole on my nose. It bothered me my whole life. I went to the dermatologist and said it was bleeding. They recommended a dermatologist plastic surgeon. The scar is barely there. You have to be really really close to see it. I would never go to a regular plastic surgeon.

Plastic surgeon sounds expensive...but I guess its better than taking the chance of getting a scar. I'm going back to my dermatologist tonight, maybe he can recomend someone. Thanks to all!!

It should be covered by insurance if there is a medical need to have the mole removed.

Interesting, I never heard of a dermatologist plastic surgeon. When my father had skin cancer, his dermatologist referred him to a "regular" plastic surgeon because it was on his face. All of the skin cancer was removed no problem and he had no complications. I would get a recommendation from your dermatologist, though.

when my mom had skin cancer, the dermatological surgeon did the procedure in the dermatologists office.
i went to a regular plastic surgeon for another part of my body and the scar is huge.
