failed 1st IVF cycle
Hi everyone,
I just had my beta today for my first IVF cycle and it was neg. We had transferred two day 5 enlarged blasts and Drs had been really confident. I'm feeling so sad and alone. DH is being supportive saying we can try again. But, right now I can't help feeling like I just lost all hope. I was even dreaming about the babies and everything. We are probably going to take a few months off before trying it again so we can have time off for if and when the baby is born . . . I don't know - i feel so depressed and confused. Drs office said I am supposed to stop progesterone and I will get a period in a few days. I'm so sad because the period makes it real that it didn't work. I just can't stop crying.

Re: failed 1st IVF cycle
Thanks for the support.
Has anyone tried an IVF cycle back to back after a failed one? Or is it usually better to take time off?

Re: failed 1st IVF cycle
I'm so sorry...as far as taking time off, I think it depends on how you are doing psychologically, not physically. I don't think there's any physical reason to take time off. One of my best friends just had a failed IVF (her first), and did an FET immediately afterwards...her beta is Monday and if she's not pg she's planning to start a new fresh cycle right away. It depends on the person I guess.
Good luck

Re: failed 1st IVF cycle
I'm so sorry...I know it's very difficult news to get.
As far as your second question - I have been doing back to back cycles for a year now. The only break I took was in August for a hysteroscopy. There is no physical reason for not being able to do a FET after a fresh cycle, so there should be no reason why you couldn't do another fresh cycle. Just make sure you speak to your Dr. asap because they have to set you up for it.

Re: failed 1st IVF cycle
I have been there and I know how hard it is. Do you have any frozen embies?
My RE always recommended 1 cycle in between for physical reason, which I did for 3 cycles. I now recommend waiting more in between for emotional reasons. The back to back failures were brutal. But hopefully you wont have to deal with that

Re: failed 1st IVF cycle
A friend of mine had IVF cycle where she conceived but lost the pregnancy within days. Dr. advised her to go through IUI cycle and guess what; she actually conceived and is a mother now. She always suggests all with failed cycles, have an IUI immediately after the IVF cycle after consulting your Dr. She says the body is very receptive to pregnancy around this time because of the hormone protocol one goes threw during IVF. I don't know if she is right but I would definitely ask my Dr.

Beta tomorrow
Hi everyone. I took some cry time as many of you suggested, and then got up dusted myself off and went on an FET. Tomorrow is my beta. I have done home preg tests for the past three days and the past two days have had two pink lines, but one really faint. I was worried that the faintness of the preg line meant a not-preg result, so I called the preg test hotline and the very nice lady said no - if there are two lines at all then it is positive. So I'm very excited. Looking forward to the beta test tomorrow. Hoping and praying. Wish me luck!

Re: failed 1st IVF cycle
been there and it suuccckkkks!!!! I did back to back and had another BFN. Also wiated and had a BFN, so I am not sure it makes a difference. BUT psychologically I would strongly recommend time in between. This journey wreaks havoc on your head
