Failed my 3hr Glucose Test
I spoke to my doctor when I got home and she said that I can't get anymore high risk than I am now. I have GD on top of my bp going up and down. When I went to L & D on Tuesday, they took my bp and it was normal. When I go to my ob/gyn, its high. I can't catch a break here. I have to call and make an appt to see the maternal fetal specialist to discuss my situation. My ob wants to see me sooner to closely monitor my bp.
Anyone else here with GD? What's your course of action?

Re: Failed my 3hr Glucose Test
I developed GD at 27 weeks. It was hard at first because it's such a change in your eating behaviors but you adjust quickly. I strictly followed the low carb diet they gave me and I also had to take insulin shots before breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and at bedtime. I had to test my blood first thing in the morning and after every meal. You really have to be strict with it, especially in the beginning. The risk of GD is your baby being large. If it makes you feel better Emerson was born completely healthy with no blood sugar problems at all and she weighed only 8lbs 8oz. As soon as she was born the GD went away and I'm back to my normal self. Like I said, it's an adjustment at first but you will manage. It's only for a little while and it will keep you and the baby healthy. Good luck and if you have any questions about the GD diet or insulin feel free to FM me anytime.

They sent me right to the endocrinologist where I was also set up with a nutritionist. They gave me a week to try and control my sugars on my own with diet but my sugars were still all over the place so I went on insulin shots. I was disappointed at first but once I got use to them it turned out to be much, much easier to keep things in check with the insulin so it wasn't bad. It's annoying but it's only for a short time so it makes it a little more tolerable.

Re: Failed my 3hr Glucose Test
I was told I had GD as well but think I was misdiiagnosed.
The sono show my baby to be abit underweight and the blood sugar level self-monitoring results don't show any abnormalities.
After a week of pricking my fingertips and cutting down on carbs and sweets I'm done. Still watching my diet abit just in case but otherwise it's business as usual.
