so funny that you asked this- i was going to post the same thing last night! 
from what i gathered... it seems like the 80s look is gaining more strength. Typical fall colors (browns, maroons, etc)... big bulky sweaters with slim fitting jeans- even *gasp* fitted at the ankle 
they also say taht the school girl look is back in... and that a 'must have' is a Jumper!  Don't get me wrong... i loved my purple coudoroy osh kosh b'gosh jumper, but i don't think i'll be putting it back on anytime soon (well, especially since its a children's size 6 )
ohhh 1 good thing though- Higher waisted pants!!!  maybe now the Hoochie-Plumber look will finally GO AWAY! 
and i *think* with shoes- platforms are making a comeback, but don't quote me on that.

I broke down and bought some leggings and I LOVE them - soooo comfortable  I don't know how I feel about the skinny jeans....I've always hated that look...does anyone look good in them? I just watched an Oprah repeat where Oprah's guests (some fashion people) said that NOBODY looks good in tapered jeans....

that's why you wear a long shirt or skirt over them 
you would all be surprised...I forever thought leggings should be left to Lindsay Lohan, but then I saw a really cute outfit on a store model and I tried it on for the hell of it and I really liked it.

It looks like it will be a mix of 80's preppy look and 80's New wave look. Acid wash looks like it might come back, but also blazers with rolled up sleeves, penny loafers and v-necked sweaters are also on their way back in (thanks Miami Vice movie)

I think that the skinny jeans are a little different than the tapered jeans.
When I think of skinny jean, I think of Sienna Miller.
