Fall/Winter babies
At what age did you take into public places? My dd will be 2m on thanksgiving and had her 2m check up yesterday with two shots. I was hoping to take her out to see santa and get pictures at KK. The peds says I shouldnt take her to mall until she is about 3-4 months old.. ughh.. My DH agrees.. I wanted a santa pic, its her first xmas...
I cant take early in morning before people get to mall b/c my DH wants to be there and his only days off are Sun, monday.. Sundays will be busy early and Mondays im going to be working starting this monday comine up.

Re: Fall/Winter babies
Steven was born in the middle of November. I took him out to the supermarket the day after we came home. I had to shop and I couldn't leave him home alone.
then we took KK pictures when he was 2 or 3 weeks old. He went to see Santa when he was about a month old.
see...

Re: Fall/Winter babies
see i understand some people don't want their little ones out in public. i was not one of them though. it is your choice. i felt that if my DD had to be in the peds office at 1 wk old where the germs were abundant then why would a quick trip to target or the mall be any different? i think you should go and get that pic. keep her nice and covered up in her stroller if you can and go as EARLY as possible if youre concerned. she's 8 wks already-i think and thats just my opinion-that she'll be fine!

ITA! If you are nervous then I would venture into the stores early, when they open. That is what I did my first few outings with DS. Now I also tok him out at 10 days old but he was born in April.

Re: Fall/Winter babies
DD was born 12/1 so she went to the mall xmas shopping at 2 weeks old. I kept the canopy on the infant seat over her face and made sure NOBODY touched her or came anywhere near her face. I went on a week day so it wasn't terribly crowded.
I did take her to my mom's for xmas dinner since it was mainly adults and I made sure nobody had even the sniffles. I did not take her to my IL's though, there were way too many kids with runny noses.
Just use your judgement and be careful.
Once she was 2 months and had her shots, we pretty much went everywhere. Again, I never let alot of people handle her and never went where I knew someone was sick.

Re: Fall/Winter babies
My pediatrician doesn't me taking her to the mall either. He had said to me to wait until 12 weeks but I asked him if 10 would really be bad and he agreed that it would be okay. I also want to get a Santa pic

Re: Fall/Winter babies
Leah was born in the beginning of December and she was out and about by around 2 weeks old. Same as the other Mommies, she was bundled good and I didn't let people get too close to her. I think the fresh air and getting out of the house was good for her. Knock on Wood - she didn't really get sick at all

Re: Fall/Winter babies
I believe that all babies are different and adapt to their environment differently and some are more sensitive than others. With that said I've already taken my son to the mall twice (today will be his third) and I've taken him on the train downtown to my job...the train yes and he was fine...so go with your gut...if you feel that your DD is going to be ok then go for it. If you feel that she is sensitive and might catch something then you're better of leaving her at home.
