Fantastic UPDATE! - Real bad day...
So i called my insurance to get the authorization number for my IVF and they asked what type of infertility we have been diagnosed with...I said male factor - now I'm the only one covered on my insurance b/c we figured when I switched we would be covered for IVF--well they said that they would cover the other infertility treatments but IVF would not be covered because it was male factor. I just want to cry...I can't believe this. I thought I had it all figured out and now this. Do you think I can I say it's unexplained?
On top of that I just got a call that my blood work came back and my beta was a 10 and progesterone was very low...I have AF very heavy(sorry TMI) though so if it was anything, I'm thinking it's not anymore. I'm so sad. I have to have more blood work on Thursday. ____________________ UPDATE!!!
We attended the IVF class last night at LI IVF and I asked about the authorization and then spoke to my nurse and she told me to explain it to them that it's "unexplained" after 3 IUI's and 16 regular cycles. So I called back today and after the woman spoke to her manager and they looked through my file...I WAS APPROVED!!! Such a relief. Tomorrow I have to go in and take another pregnancy blood test to make sure my beta is at 0 and then I can start the birth control pill! I'm going to call and get us scheduled for acupuncture now!
Thanks again for all the support yesterday!

Re: Real bad day...
Your RE's office doesn't take care of all the insurance authorizations for you? I never once had to call my insurance company, unless of course I had a question about a bill or explanation of benefits. My RE office took care of everything.

WHAT? That's crazy!!! These insurance company's come up with something new every day!!!!
I would call Chris Graffeo asap. She helped me a ton with my insurance. Is the authorization number something you are suppose to get on your own?
I'm so sorry.
What did they say about your beta? Do you have to go back for another one?

Actually now a girl named Valencia is handling the ivf billing and she is very nice. She got back to me within an hour with financial clearance for my ivf. I had her direct line but I cannot find it. I would give your nurse a call and try to get it. I am so sorry for everything you are going through.

Same with me. I hope you can get things worked out.

Re: Real bad day...
I've learned that you must fight insurance companies. So, what do they want you to do...go find another husband? I'm so angry by this.
I had a situation with DH genetic testing. After BC/BS covered mine, they suddenly decided that they don't cover genetic testing. It took me about a year, but eventually they decided they do and covered it. That would have been $4k.
I'm sure there is something you can do. PP's said you need to call that woman at the office. I'm sure she will help. KUP>

I agree with the OP's, call the billing office and see what they have to say.

Re: Real bad day...
Ladies thank you so much for all the responses and hugs. I put in a call to LI IVF and I'm waiting to hear back, but I am also going to the IVF class there tonight so I'm hoping I can talk to someone about it. I am on progesterone, so maybe I can say that it is both male and female? Fingers crossed. Otherwise I guess it's back to IUI's until we can get my husband on my insurance.
As for the beta I do have to go back on Thursday to have it tested again and I can't start my BCP until it drops to zero.
I'll update you all after the class!

Re: Fantastic UPDATE! - Real bad day...
First off, congrats on resolving the insurance issue. Did the doc say you were having a chemical pg? I had the same thing happen one cycle and I went back the next day and the beta dropped below 5.
