Favorite Charity
"Tis the season of giving" If you have $500 that you had to give to a charity of your choice, what would you choose? You cannot choose yourself/family and you cannot break up the money and choose more than 1 charity.

Re: Favorite Charity
I follow 2 smaller dog resuce charities on FB. Hope for Paws in Calif and New York Bully Crew. So I would split it between them.

Little shelter, smile train, or something very local through a church where you know the donation stays in the community. In the past I've also paid off toy registries.

Re: Favorite Charity
I have a friend that has a fundraiser page for her medical expenses, so I would give to that if I could. You could look at GoFund me or GiveForward for someone to donate to. $500 at once could be more impactful going to 1 person who really needs it.
If this is coming from a company or something & I needs to be an established charity I would probably give to St. Jude's or MSKCC.
Another idea is to give to ALS, since their donations have probably decreased from the summer after the ice bucket challenge died down.

I give to local animal shelters and JDRF. If you would like to give to cancer-related causes, I highly recommend Cycle for Survival. It's technically run through MSK, but 100% of money raised directly benefits "rare" cancers (50% of all cancer diagnoses are considered rare).

Re: Favorite Charity
I have a friend whose son has pediatric brain cancer. He is 2 years old. I would give it all to them to help cover their copays. If it had to be a registered charity I would give it to the pj library or Dolly Parton library. Both charities give books to young children. St. Jude's is also another excellent charity.
