Favorite local food
Now that Hofstra got me hungry.....what are your favorite local foods/restaurants? I never appreciated the food on LI until I left LI and there are so many things I miss.
For me:
Honey mustard chicken salad from Se-port in Setauket
Fat Boy Burrito in Bellmore (anything)
Rigatoni Fiorentina from Vincenzo’s in N. Bellmore
Pasta jambalaya and I think it’s called diablo fried chicken at Big Daddy’s in Massapequa
Black and white cookies from Dortoni in Levittown
Also Naz’s halal because halal food doesn’t exist in Westchester and I’m very bitter about it.

Re: Favorite local food
In Queens- Bridie's on Woodhaven Blvd... their wings. They had this one flavor it was like spicy and sweet Asian- I had it once when I was pregnant with my DS and I think they discontinued the flavor. I've tried like every flavor they have since and it's not the same.
Again in Queens- Sidetracks in Sunnyside, they had this creamy chicken dish. Oh man it was so good. I've kind of recreated it at home. They don't have it anymore either. It was just called "Sidetrack Chicken".
Cannoli Donuts from Doughology!
ETA: Cream filled crumb topped donuts from Peter Pan Bakery in Greenpoint. They have the BEST donuts ever. Literally they are rated like #3.

I haven’t been to Bridie’s in years but yes the wings were good! I remember when it was Killarney’s for a short time and they used to have ladies night on Thursday’s. I never ate there. I probably should have. Some food in my stomach may have prevented lots of drunken decisions
Sidetracks was my grandmother’s favorite restaurant. We used to go there for every occasion. She died in 2000 and I haven’t been there since. I didn’t even realize it was still there.

The popovers at the Milleridge Inn. I haven't been there in years though, so I don't know if they still have them after it changed management.

Favorite local food
We're in Queens and an old fave is Plaka. It's a Greek Restaurant in Jackson Heights Shopping Center. And a new fave is Bistro Eloise. It's a French Restaurant in the same shopping center.
ETA: There's also a great bakery there too. Cannelle Patisserie. It's fantastic.

I totally forgot about that fire!!! I'm surprised they didn't reopen- they always seemed like they were making a killing. But the rent must've been sky high and they had just renovated a couple of years earlier.
And OMG Killarney's days!! I wasn't 21 when I first started going but that definitely did NOT stop me.

I am not a huge steak person when I go out to eat but I have to say it was the best I probably have ever had. Now again I haven’t gone to a bunch of steak houses but it just melt in your mouth. No need for a knife. Expensive but worth it.

A really good steakhouse is ALWAYS my first choice for special occasions. Normally I cringe at how much food is when you go out to eat but a quality steak made right is SO worth every penny.
I will have to check out that steak whenever I get back to Butera's although it will be hard to say no to my Chicken Sorrentino. LOL

The Greek place in Hauppauge, forgot the name! Tiny hole in the wall with the best grilled chicken and Greek salad outside of Queens.
Pio Pio Peruvian chicken with that amazing green aji sauce!

Monsoon in Babylon has a Typhon Roll (sushi) that was literally the best sushi roll I ever had. It was wrapped in a piece of fried potato. Absolutely delicious.
OMG. My favorite too. I dream about that roll. They also have an awesome lobster roll and they have fried oreos. Monsoon is one of my top 3 restaurants!!
