Feedback on Sherwin Williams Paint?
How is the quality?
I wanted to use Benjamin Moore in the nursery, but they don't seem to have the color combinations I want and Sherwin Williams does. How does their paint compare?
Also, would a Benjamin Moore paint distributor be able to mix paint to match the color combo I like that Sherwin Williams has?
TIA?

Re: Feedback on Sherwin Williams Paint?
We used all SW paint. Quality is supposed to be as good, if not better, than BM. Specifically the cashmere brand...
BM should definitely be able to match the SW color that you like, just bring them a swatch. I know for SW for them to match a color, all they needed was a quarter-sized sample.

We ended up using BM, but our painter usually uses Sherwin Williams. He only had good things to say about SW paint.

Re: Feedback on Sherwin Williams Paint?
we used SW paint for our entire house.. and honestly.. we were not happy with it.. they screwed up the colors a couple of times.. and the way it paints .. just not great.. the end result.. was just "okay"
we decided to paint over another room with BEHRS from home depot.. and let me tell you.. .we loved it SO MUCH more.. who would have thought

Re: Feedback on Sherwin Williams Paint?
That's all I use and used in my house! Quality is great. They're a little more expensive, but they have a lot of 25% off deals. I'm sure they'll be having one with Thanksgiving coming up. Sherwin Williams is very popular where I live. I'm in NC though!
ETA: I did use the Harmony paint because I was PG and I had a little one at home already. With that kind you don't smell the paint fumes at all. That was nice.

Re: Feedback on Sherwin Williams Paint?
We tried pretty much every brand of paint and were happiest with SW, thats all we used now. We actually just used their no-VOC paint to paint the nursery.

We used SW paint for our entire house and have no complaints. Most colors only needed one coat.. well worth the $$.

Re: Feedback on Sherwin Williams Paint?
We used SW in our kitchen and diningroom and really DIDNT like it. It doesnt go on very smooth and didnt have great coverage. We actually used Valspar and American Traditions from Lowes for the rest of the house and liked it a lot better.

Re: Feedback on Sherwin Williams Paint?
I did two colors with Sherwin Williams. One color was ok (tan) but we had problems with the other color (red)
Turns out they mixed it with the wrong base (which the guy working there told me was a "better" base and more money) After about 4 coats we could still see the roller marks. They ended up giving us a new gallon with the right base and one coat covered the rest really nicely.

Re: Feedback on Sherwin Williams Paint?
We've used Behrs, BM and SW paint and out of the 3 i'd say Behrs was the one we liked the least. It seemed the texture was thicker and it didn't dry as nicely as both the BM and SW did.
I do think it has a lot to do with the base you choose to begin with, as well as the finish of the paint and the surface you're painting on - all those factors go into how the finished product looks.
SW will match any color you give them - i had them make me a BM color when i was there because i didn't feel like going over to the BM store again..
