Re: Sherwin Williams Paint

LOL we are on a total painting kick so I can offer some thoughts here as well. I couldnt find a BM color I was happy with for my LR/DR and then I saw my friends bedroom, its SW paint. So I bought a sample which BTW, is a quart, and I love how it goes on. We have medium blue walls and I tried an area without using primer using a brownish gold and the coverage was great, even without the primer. So I give it a thumbs up. The friend who I got the color idea from loved it too.

Re: Sherwin Williams Paint

My DH's brother has a painting company and uses SW. We just painted our whole house with it, and I was very happy with it- I'm not an experienced painter, but I think it was great. We painted our white kitchen red, we thought it would need 3-4 coats, but it only needed 2 coats, in fact some areas could have been alright with one.

Re: Sherwin Williams Paint

The painter we used for our house used SW paint. I was OK with it until I noticed that the paint all ready chipped in 2 places in the living room. We got a few rooms painted in April.

Re: Sherwin Williams Paint

My husband works in houses all the time and every prfessional painter he has met swears by benjamin Moore or Ralph Lauren, so that is all that we ever use. If it is cheap, it is cheap for a reason (as per the painters).

Your paint could have chipped for a few reasons.... not necessarily the quality of the paint.

In painting our house (and we used the cheap Home Depot and Lowes paints because we are selling) I noticed that you are pretty much guaranteed to chip when doing the following: gowing over a gloss paint with a flat or eggshell without priming; when painting over really old (possibly lead-containing) paint, and when painting over paint in a room that has been heavily smoked in.

from what I hear Benjamin Moore and Sherwin Williams are two of the best.

Nope.... When we bought the house it was a complete rehab so all the walls were new and painted with flat white paint. Luckily we have the leftover paint in the basement, so I can just retouch them.

Re: Sherwin Williams Paint

I just want to add that although BM is "the name", SW isnt cheap stuff. I bought my paint today and at 30% off, it was $25 a gallon, not all that much different than BM
