Feel really stupid asking this... clothes for church?

I haven't gone in a long time, but I've been wanting to take the kids to church for a LONG time now. What exactly would I and the boys wear to church? We don't exactly have the nicest clothes. Chat Icon Thanks and sorry if it's a stupid question. I'm so Chat Icon about asking it! Chat Icon

ETA: Also, Caiden starts his Catechism classes in September, what should he wear to those?

Honestly I think a pair of jeans and polo shirt is fine. As long as they look neat and clean I dont see anything wrong with it.

ETA: Religion classes you dont need to get dressed up for. I wore whatever I wore to school that day.

anything they are comfortable in that isn't tattered.

Honestly- think what Jesus would say- would he say, "nope, can't come to church- you don't look "nice" enough?"...

I doubt it.

Re: Feel really stupid asking this... clothes for church?

Thanks so much!!! What about for mommy? Chat Icon

I'm so nervous about taking them. I can't remember what to do in a Catholic Church? I won't know the songs, prayers, etc. Chat Icon I was lost during Connor's Baptism.

My DH probably won't be going with me. He's not into going to church, but maybe after a little while he'll start going with us at least a couple of times a month. Chat Icon

I usually put on a polo shirt and shorts (khakis, jeans, or other color) on my 1.5 yr old and prob will do the same as he gets older!

Same with my 2.5 yr old DD

I would prob wear a neat cotton shirt and capris and in the summer my "fancier flip flops" nothing special!

I can count on one hand the number of times I've been in church in the last few years, 3 of those times being my wedding and boys baptisms.

Jeans and a nice shirt is fine for you too...if it's summer and you want to wear a sundress or skirt that's fine too. Some people think you shouldn't show your shoulders in a church, I wore a strapless gown for my wedding Chat Icon

Honestly the way things are going in the Catholic church the past few years they should be happy people still even want to go. Wear what you feel comfortable in. I dont think God will judge Chat Icon

Thanks everyone!!!

It's hard because down here in NC, since it's part of the bible belt. Everyone I know goes to church religiously EVERY Sunday morning. As an adult I've only been 3 times too. My wedding, and both kids Baptisms.
