Feeling TONS of ANXIETY right now that tomorrow Chloe is supposed to get her MMR and Chicken Pox Vaccine...
I am so nervous about it! Is there any reason to not give her both together (and I am not talking about the fact of two needles per say but any harmful reason to not combine both shots at her 15 MOS well visit?
She is a Day Care baby and that is probably why I am going ahead with it tomorrow (I think). If she didn't attend Day Care then I'd probably decline them FOR NOW:)
What are the side effects of these shots? Someone mentioned to me that with the MMR the child could develop a high fever? If so, when does it occur and how long does it last? Are there fever side effects with the Chicken Pox vaccine?
Thanks, I need my anxiety level lifted a bit right now...

ds had the mmr at his 12 month with out any high fever.... he actually fared better with the mmr then some of the other ones he has had.... we didnt give him the chicken pox one and i am on the fence with it on if he should get it at his 15 month (tomorrow as well) really just because i am preg and never had the chicken pox myself so i am trying to determine if it is better to wait...

DS got both MMR and Chicken Pox vaccines at the 15 month visit. Ironically, he didn't have any side effects and he usually spikes fevers after vaccines. Go figure!
As for side effects, the MMR can cause a fever up to 2 weeks after it's been given.
In all honesty, I was more worried about me than I was about DS because I was pregnant at the time. I am immune to both, so we went ahead and let DS have both vaccines at the same time. Everyone turned out fine!

All 3 of my children got their Chicken Pox and MMR shots at their 15 month check ups. None had any reaction at all.

i was like you so i put them off. DD didn't get MMR til she was like 27 months and then just got the chicken pox last week and she's 2.5- thankfully no reactions
ETA DD is a daycare kid too...

You can get them separately if you are concerned. I have not heard that it is bad to get both at once, but getting two (really four) live viruses at once just doesn't sit well with me.
DS got MMR at 19 or 20 months. He still hasn't had chicken pox, and he's almost 25 months. Probably he'll get that once soon.
If I had to pick, I'd do MMR first, those diseases are a bit worse than chicken pox generally.
