Vaccine Reactions - Chicken Pox & MMR
I beleive at 15 months my DS will be given both of these vaccines. So far with all his shots (knock on wood) he hasnt had any reaction. But I wanted to know your experiences...
Also were your shots given in the same visit (I guess this is more for parents who didnt delay or split the vaccinations)
And right now his appt is on Tuesday and we are going away for the weekend with family, do you think I should move the appt?
Thanks!

Re: Vaccine Reactions - Chicken Pox & MMR
DD had MMR and Chicken pox together but later than 15 months- maybe like 17 months.. she didn't react to MMR but did react to Chicken Pox about a week later- got a fever and a small rash at injection site- which I knew to expect from what the PED said.

Re: Vaccine Reactions - Chicken Pox & MMR
DD has had a fever here or there from some of her earlier immunizations.
Our ped office gives Chicken Pox & MMR at 15 months, but I split them up and delayed them. She got Chicken Pox at 17.5 months, and will likely get MMR at 2 years.
I was pleasantly surprised that she didn't have a reaction to Chicken Pox, as I said she's had a mild fever here or there to earlier shots. She had no reaction to Chicken Pox, thankfully!
I think the typical reaction time is about 10 days- 14 days after the shot, if I remember reading correctly on here.

Re: Vaccine Reactions - Chicken Pox & MMR
We follow our peds schedule. DD got MMR at 12 months and chicken pox at 13 months. He doesn't believe in giving them together.
DD never had any reaction at all to any of her shots before these two OR after those two. However she DID have a reaction to BOTH of those shots.
She got a high fever (104.5) and a rash 9 days later (ped said I think reaction could come 7-14 days later). And she got a fever and a rash again with the chicken pox shot about 2 weeks later. (I think he said reactions are usually 2-3 weeks later).
Honestly I would bump it to after your trip you don't want to have any problems if there is a reaction or you don't want one at the end of the trip when you have to come home.

Re: Vaccine Reactions - Chicken Pox & MMR
I would change the appt too...I made sure not to have DD's appt before Christmas at the suggestion of a friend, and Im so glad I did. DD got just the MMR at 12 months and 7 days later she got a 103.5 fever and was acting very, very sick. If I wouldve kept the appt she would have been sick for Christmas. She will get chicken pox at next appt.
