Fences...
What's easier to maintain - wood or vinyl? DO I have to treat wood every year?
Also - what is cheaper?
Getting ready to get quotes...
TIA!

Generally speaking vinyl is easier to maintain and wood is cheaper (which makes sense if you think about it). GL

you do not have to treat wood every year. some people never treat it (but then it doesn't last too long). if you do a simple weather sealant, most last a few years (think seal it once every 2-4 years).
vinyl you obviously won't need to seal, but you will probably want to power wash it once a year (especially if you get white).

Re: Fences...
We recently received a few quotes for fences and wood is actually not cheaper than PVC. It depends on what type of wood you want. The cheapest is a typical stockade fence. A white PVC fence was actually almost $2k cheaper than a wood Cedar fence, which most of the wood fences that are not stockade are. And I don't have a large fenced in area. When I asked why the wood was more expensive than PVC he told me because they are cedar. HTH

I agree, we just had them put in a few months ago.
