ferber/CIO/weaning paci question

so DS has started waking up several times in the middle of the night. we've been feeding him at those times, but at this point it's pretty clear that he's not waking up because he's hungry. he'll take a few swigs from the bottle/boob and then be fast asleep and just comfort sucking. so we put him back down with his paci... but as soon as it falls out he is up again and screaming. this is leading to us getting NO sleep, as we are constantly going back and forth to his crib to replace the paci.

so we know that we have to wean the feedings... but i think we also have to teach him to sleep without the paci.

we used CIO to get him to fall asleep in his crib and it worked well. but i'm SCARED to do this in the middle of the night with weaning the feedings and paci.

has anyone done this? any pointers?

we are having simular issues with DS. He was sleeping fine and then went through another growth spurt and he still needs a bottle to get him through...his tummy is growling for goodness sake. We basically just tried to get him to fall asleep with the paci for a couple of nights and it worked out well.

This happened to us the first night she was in the crib-every time the paci would fall, she would scream. She'd go right back afterwards so the next night we stopped giving it to her and she hasn't looked for it since. I guess I'm no help here but I do want to wish you good luck and offer Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
