I got mine from Fetalsure online, and I didnt need permission. I think they sent something with it to send back requesting permission, I never sent it in though....

My doctor as liberal as he is did not recommend getting one...but you can rent one or purchase one without permission.

I got one on Ebay. It is great and I used it all the time until I could feel the baby kick regularly (19 weeks or so)....but I couldn't find the heartbeat with the doppler until something like 13 or 14 weeks, so I really only used it for a little over a month.
