Fight Global Warming
I thought this site was really interesting for any of the environmentally-conscious folks out there.
You can calculate your usage here and it gives you some tips.
We use waaaaay more than the average american household.

WOW this to me is mind-blowing. I consider myself a pretty ecologically conscious person, and I produce 50% more carbon than the median.

We use about 22% less than average, although I've taken a MUCH more detailed survey of this and know that truly we are only about 5% below the average. Particularly because we both ride the LIRR.
We have been seriously trying to decrease our carbon footprint over the past year. It's not easy.
The newest thing is we are trying to buy as many locally produced or at least domestically produced items as possible. To reduce the amount of carbon produced in shipping.

I saw that I use less than average right before getting an error, so I am going to take the quiz again when I get home. I am very interested in this stuff. We don't realize the effect so many of our modern conveniences have on our environment.
