Fight on the LIRR this morning....
One of my BIGGEST pet peeves on the LIRR is when people clip their nails. This is completely disgusting to me.  There is a time and a place to cut your nails with a clipper, and I personally don't think the train is that place.
This morning I'm sitting in a 4 seater and this lady gets on and sits across from me with her friend. I'm dozing off listening to my ipod, and over my music, I hear that annoying "clip" noise nail clippers make. I look over to see this woman clipping her nails.. remnants flying all over the place. I sigh, make a face and look out the window. I'm getting more and more aggravated as I continue to hear the "clip clip" until I finally loose my mind. I get up and move to the 6 seater across the isle (I didn't want to get hit with a nail). So the woman goes to her friend, "was it something I said?" and they giggle.. So I go, "actually, it's not what you said.. it's what you did. I find it completely repulsive that you're cutting your nails on the train to work. How about I give you $8 and you treat yourself to a manicure at lunch." I admit maybe that was a little rude, but I was so aggravated by this point.. Well, the lady lost her mind.. started screaming, "this is public transportation, if you don't like it, to bad!" To which I reply, "i'm aware this is public transportation, still doesn't mean this is the time and place for certain things. Trust me, I'd have the same reaction if you were picking your nose.. even though it's public transportation..." She continued to go on and on about how she can do what she wants where she wants, and I just kept nodding at her and telling her she's right (which of course got her more riled up). We pulled into Penn and I jumped up before she had a chance to push me into the gap...lol
ahh, the LIRR.. gotta LOVE IT!

I used to work with a guy who would clip his nails at his desk EVERY DAY!!!

OMG, ew! She was cutting her nails on the train?!?!?!??!!
I'm a commuter and I've never seen that. I would have absolutely died. That's DISGUSTING. I cannot imagine that it's permissible!

Just because it is public transportation doesn't mean that you can treat it like it is your home.
Her carpet at home probably crunches from nail clippings. Ewwww.

That is so disgusting! People don't realize that no matter if it is public transportation or not, you don't do that in public! Does she cut her nails when she is in someone's car???

That reminds me of a story i heard from a flight attendent once. she said that she was working in the first class cabin and a woman called her over to complain about a man clipping his TOE nails and asked if the flight attendent could kindly ask him to stop. The flight attendent said she would love to but that since he wasnt doing anything that violated the rules, she really couldnt stop him from clipping. then the lady said "Okay well then can I atleast get another soda, since one of his clippings just flew in my drink?"
Really, people should know better!
