Filing a tax grievence on your own?

Does anyone know how to do it (in Nassau?) I knowe the deadline is fast approaching and I keep getting letters from companies that will do it for you, but I am hesitant about the 50% fee. Has anyone used any company in the past to file?

DH found the website....

I filed on my own as well. It was easy. I hope I get a tax break.

When do they let you know if you get a tax break?

Can anyone do this - Why would they just lower them?

Yes - anyone can do this. They would lower them based on your neighbors and if your house is not similar to theirs but you are paying more taxes than they are.

also, they could be lower if there is some specific about your house that would lower the tax appraisal.

I have no backyard and a driveway I share with two other homes. From a Property standpoint, I shouldn't be paying the taxes on the driveway by myself and I have no backyard which most of the other homes on my block do.
