Filling up your oil tank..........
How often do you find yourselves doing this in the winter time? Just wanted to get a feel if DH and I are falling in the average - we refilled in Mid October and I just called for another delivery for tomorrow. We refill when the tank gets to 1/4 full - but I was just curious about everyone else out there. Thanks in advance!

This is our first year that we locked in so they come every month. Personally, I don't find anything positive or negative about it.
Usually we do COD. In the past we've filled up in late October, late Jan, late March. We have a 275 tank and use oil for hot water. However, the last couple of winters have been pretty mild. I think it has gotten quite a bit colder this year sooner than it has in the past.

We had ours filled about 20 days ago, and its down 1/4. I feel that is a lot. Our tank is original to the house, and we were told it is not burning efficiently. But we dont have the funds right now to replace or convert.

We had ours filled in September and they should be back around the end of December to refill. I believe we get oil fills in September, December, February and April....

We had an oil delivery in July and are getting our first delivery this week. We also have a 500 gallon tank though.

It depends a lot on the size of your house, the number of zones, how you use it, the temps you leave your heat on, etc. doesn't it?
We have a small ranch - 2 beds and 2 zones and they just came this week to fill it up. We have a 240 gallon tank and only used 50 gallons in the 1 month since they had been there last.
Not sure if that's normal or not. We keep the heat 68-70 while we're there, 60-65 when we're not.

We just replaced our burner & hot water tank bc last year we were refilling every 4-5 weeks. We have 2 zones, 2200 sq ft house, & leave the temperature no higher then 66 during the day (when home), 60 when we are not home & 60 at night.
We just got filled up on Monday & have the programmable thermostats (should cut consumption by 33%). I will let you know how we do..
