Finally my birth story..

I know it is a little late but both kids are still sleeping and I ate lunch so I have time now Chat Icon .

I started have contractions around 12:30am on July 9th. Nothing major but I knew I would have her that day so I went back to sleep and I just kept getting up. At 1:30am I decided to take a shower and get ready because I didn't think I would have time when DS would wake up and I didn't know how fast this labor would be. After I was done DH knew what was going on and he went to take a shower too. Then DS got up and we slept in bed for the last time as family of 3. Around 4:30am I got up again but because of the pain. They weren't unbearble but it helped to breathe through the contractions and that is when I started packing up extra things I needed for the hospital bag. I was timing them and they were between 4-6 minutes apart so around 6:30 I called my OB and she said to go get checked out. We arrived at Winthrop at 7:15 and I was only 3-4cm. I was a little dissapointed because with my son I was 5-6 when I arrived but at the same time I think if I waited I would have hit the morning rush and it would have taken us probably 30-40 minutes in traffic. Anyway, they called my OB to see if they should keep me and she said yes so I got my L&D room and I was all settled. Then my contractions started to get a little stronger so I told her I wanted the epidural now. At first I thought I wouldnt get it but that changed fast and I didn't enjoy laying down and having contractions. You don't have the same control as you are standing, but standing was difficult when you are hooked up to monitors and IV. So I had to wait probably 45 minutes to get my epi because they needed to contact my OB again. I got the epi and all was better then my Dr. walked in and I was only 4cm and she broke my water. After being on the epi I guess for an hour they noticed my contractions were going back to 4-6 minutes apart when before the epi they were closer so they gave me pitosin and that is when things just went fast. I was on that for maybe 45 minutes and she checked me at 11:30am and I was now 6cm. Well I started to feel some pressure again around noon and I was now 8 cm. Then all of sudden 10 minutes later I am screaming that I have to push and she checked me and I was 10cm and ready to go. They were scrambling to get the room ready and I was trying to hold out but it was so hard. They got the bed disasembled and had me ready and after 10 minutes of pushing out she came. I just love Winthrop. My nurse was amazing, just so calm and very supportive and made sure I was ok and always checking on me. I actually had resident deliver DD with my Dr. next to him and he was so nice and he kept telling me keep breathing and really supporting me while I was pushing. I did need a small episiotomity but it was only the outer layer of skin so the recovery wasn't bad at all like the first time.
This time while pushing I asked for my tubes to be tied Chat Icon . I was a little embrassed because apparently I could be heard outside of my room while I was pushing but then when I was done I heard someone else screaming so I didn't feel so bad.

Now we are complete and happy and in love with both of children.
