Finally! Nicholas' 1st Birthday party Review!

Ok, so here it goes.....

March 31st, my little baby boy turned one! I can't believe how fast time has gone. If it makes sense, I feel like it was forever ago that I was pregnant, but yet one year has flown by. lol. It's so amazing to watch how much they grow and learn and develop in such a short time, but so sad to see that your baby is now a little boy; or like we call him, our "little man".

So, on April 3rd, we had our little man's birthday party. We wanted to have it in our backyard with tents and everything but the weather is just too unpredictable, so after much planning which is always so much fun, we had the birthday bash that we will never forget!

I will start off by saying, we had it at Chateau Briand in Carle Place. The food and service were great; place is beautiful.. Price wasn't bad compared to the rest we looked at which was about 20 other places... What we got for what we paid was unbelievable though, so I am very happy..

So, I don't know what order to go in so I will just go in the order that I have my pics saved. haha.

The dessert table, I put together on a whim and didn't know how it would turn put but it was beautiful! For the cupcakes, I ordered the molded sugars from fancyflours.com. The theme of the party was "Under the Sea". So, we got all sea creature themed molded sugars and they were so adorable! They shipped right away to me because, again, I waited until the last minute and they came in gorgeous; none were broken and they were gorgeous!

The cupcake wrappers, I ordered from etsy; seller was knitcraftnscrap. she was great as well; shipped fast and the wrappers were so adorable! so colorful and fit the theme perfect!

The candy on the dessert table, I got from Dylans Candy Bar. I had the swedish fish, rock candy to match all the colors of t he party, jawbreaker lollipops and colorful lollipops with sugar sea creatures on them; everything was so colorful and matched the theme of the party perfectly!!!!

The candy on the tables, I put in fish bowls that I got from the pet stores by my house. I also shopped around different pet stores to get the glass looking seashell confetti for the dessert tables, and the little standing fish decor. They added just the right touch!

The labels for the candy, I made on the computer, cut out funky shapes and taped them to paper I got at Target then got stickers from Michaels and made my own.. Came out cute enough I think

The favors for the adults, I got from Godiva; I did the 2 piece gold chocolate box with a seashell and a starfish chocolate to go with the theme, again. I had personalized ribbons made that said Nicholas is One! and the date of the party. They came out great! I bought them during the friends and family from the store in walt whitman mall and got 20 % off! So, it was great! I put one box on every persons plate at each table. It looked perfect!

The Cake I had made by a friend of the family's bakery in Brooklyn. Sal and Jerry's Bakery. I had found a picture of a cake I wanted while googling "under the sea" and took that picture to them and asked them to replicate the cake. OMG it came out exact! They were unbelievable! And the cake tasted delicious! Everyone is still raving about it! FM me for info on any vendors, I will gladly refer you to anyone!

Centerpieces and balloon canopy, again, I found googling "under the sea". I, again, took the pictures, and shopped around and got a ton of prices, all which were more than I wanted to spend. Last minute (of course) my cousin told me she had used a woman in the past that was great and I called her. Her prices were half of what I got from others! I booked her on the spot. She works from home, but came to my house and made me a sample centerpiece and discussed what I want and she was wonderful! I highly reccommend her and will be using her from now on for everything! She does party planning as well so you can have her do anything!!!! placecards; I knew I wanted to do something with a sandbox. I looked to buy one and it was just more than I wanted to spend for just the sandbox for a party. So, I made my own sandboxes out of storage boxes from ikea childrens section. filled them with styrofoam and then sand on top and I found these starfish wands on etsy from the seller custom kids. they were adorable! i attached ribbons to them because in order for her to send them asap, I had to attach my own color ribbons, and then I made the tags to go on them with everyones names and table numbers and stuck them into the styrofoam in the sandboxes; they came out adorable!!!

Nicholas' birthday shirt, also, last minute hahahahha, I ordered from etsy seller littleoneboutique! Again, wonderful to work with! She shippped like 2 day delivery and was very reasonable!

His suit I got from jcrew, it was a little big on him; I coldnt find anything in his size so I bought a 2T and had it altered but it was still too big. However, it looked adorable on him. I kept saying he looked like Tom Hanks in BIG! hahaha.
His shoes, I got from Stride Rite and they were adorable also!

Birthday hat I got from Buy Buy Baby. It was so prince charming looking ...

kids favors, I got from toys r us. they were octopus bubble machines and were a hit with the kids! I wrapped them in clear celophane and tied them with the colored ribbons to match the party and had favor tags made to attach by the etsy seller alittlelollipoptree. she also made me confetti for the tables which were both adorable, and she was great to work with as well. affordable and quick shipping!

DJ; we used a dj that my sister in law and brother in law used for my nephews bday party and he was amazing; even better at my party I think! haha. He did so much for the kids for such an unbelieavbly low price, I couldnt believe it! We had face painting, sand art, balloon making, magic show, games, bubble machine... He was sooo funny doing the magic show and adults were even having a blast and laughing! The music was great , he was so very nice, and I can;t say enough about him. last but not least, i think, was the photographer. We hired Amy from AmyJocelynPhotography and she was a sweetheart. She kept in touch and showed up on time to start taking pics of setting up, etc..
