finally stood up to my sister (sorry long)
if you knew her you'd understand she is BEYOND sensitive and will throw a fit whenever someone critiques her or makes any kind of comment towards her (even in jest)... but of course the same rules don't apply to her.
oh yeah, she's 25 years old.
so since i got PG she has done nothing but comment about my weight - how happy she is that i am finally "fatter" than her, how i am waddling all the time, how big i have gotten each time she sees me... and she will rub my belly every chance she gets and talk about how she's going to be the favorite aunt.
i always let it go because i just don't want to get into it with her, but she has hurt me and pizzed me off so many times in the last few months that last night was the last straw.
i was telling her and my mother how i couldn't go to my best friend's bachelorette party and my sister says i wouldn't "fit" into the limo - my mom says something to her about how "of course she would" and my sister saysd "well she would, but everyone else would be uncomfortable" ha friggin ha. and then she goes to rub my belly!!
i knocked her hand away and i say something to her that she needs to knock off all the negative comments. of course she half-azzed apologizes and then says, well i always say how good you look pregnant too! um, maybe that's the ONLY thing you shoud be saying dipsh!t. (never mind the fact that she only says that after making some disparaging remark about my belly, like somehow that will make it all better.)
yeah, i know in the grand scheme of things this wasn't such a big deal but it was the straw that broke the camel's back, KWIM?

Good for you! I hate when people think it is ok to "tease" the PG.

She sounds like she is the type of person that needs to put other people down in order to make herself feel better. I'm glad you stood up to her!

Good job standing up to her!! You have the patience of a saint to let it go that long. Sounds to me like she has always been jealous of you [body image wise] and now she thinks it's her turn to shine! Whatever her deal is, you were totally right to let her know that her comments are bothering you! I know I only met you once [at the gtg] but you look fabulous to me!!

Re: finally stood up to my sister (sorry long)
ah to be a juvenille again (yeah sure, she's 25, but she's acting younger if you know what I mean)
I actually saw my step aunt (who is actually only 38) in germany.... she is equally tactful and mature.... and grated on EVERYONE'S nerves for a solid 4 days (I won't go into her comments on how I 'trapped' my husband... implying he would never be with me voluntarily , or her other numerous unrelated rude comments)
there's no sense retaliating or defending yourself... in their skewed view of reality, they're behaving totally FINE, and it's everyone else who is hypersensitive and rude.
I just do my best to ignore it as if it's background noise.... (except I will say that is much harder when it's your own sister, and you see her all the time )
