fire pits
Does anyone know if there are any regulations for placement of a fire pit in the backyard? We are looking to do a patio and are debating having a fire pit built in (versus a portable one you can purchase at home depot). Just wondering if there are regulations we would need to follow in Nassau County (distance from house, from neighbors house, wiring, etc) thanks

Re: fire pits
There definitely are. I don't know what they are, but I know from selling many houses that anything that is a permanent fixture to the property requires a permit/CO. That includes things like a gas bbq that runs on a natural gas line and a generator that is hardwired to the property.
You would have to contact the town (assuming you aren't in an incorporated village) - Town of Hempstead or North Hempstead, etc.
