First Appointment 8 weeks?

I got my BFP today, and called my gyno for appt. They don't have me coming in for another month! I know I am early, but I am anxious....

They are sending us out a packet, I presume that theyll be some info in that?Chat Icon

Also my GYNO is a NP, not a Dr., should i be concerned? I've been seeing her for 10 years, and have never had any problems.

Sorry for all the questions!

Re: First Appointment 8 weeks?

They normally don't want to see you before 8 weeks or so because there isn't much to see before that.

That sounds about right.

My first appt wasn't until 8 weeks either.

As far as the NP- do they have an OB on staff?
I'm not sure that NP's deliver babies...

Re: First Appointment 8 weeks?

My first appt was at 8 weeks also. They do that because the chances of hearing the baby's heartbeat are significantly slimmer if you go much earlier. Pregnancy tests are so accurate now that the doctors consider that good enough to confirm you are pregnant.

Re: First Appointment 8 weeks?

most office make you wait until that time it's totally normal...you should ask her about delivery though, i don't think that NP's can deliver unless she is a midwife...not sure.

Re: First Appointment 8 weeks?

I went in at 5 weeks and although that is too early for a sono, he did start me on prenatals and do my bloodwork.

Those early weeks are the most important as far as the prenatals.

Personally I would not feel comfortable w/o an actual OB. I mean, plenty of people use midwives- but that's for a different reason. If ur going "medical" I wouldn't stop short of an OB, kwim?
