First b-day party with only a few kids coming
Do I need to make special kids food, get juice boxes, etc. if there are only going to be I think 5 kids at DD's b-day party?
And is it horrible if I don't give them favors? I didn't plan on doing any favors at all, for adults or kids.

Re: First b-day party with only a few kids coming
what are their ages?
ETA: If they are 2 or up, I would not worry about the food, and maybe do a small goody bag for them. (they most likely will eat with their parents) but the goody bags are fun for them.
but to be safe, you might want to do nuggets/fries.
under 2, dont worry about either.

Re: First b-day party with only a few kids coming
We only had 4 at his 1st birhday and we did have their own food and juice boxes. I would. Even if you go to Costco and get some chicken nuggets. And they have juice boxes there too. That is what we did.

We only have a few kids too (4-6 total). We have hotdogs, hamburgers. We will do a cookie plater for them. We will get juices at the store.
No favors!

Re: First b-day party with only a few kids coming
I would, only because some kids won't like 'adult' food.
We went to an adult b-day party yesterday and all my DD had was a couple of crackers and a piece of cheese (at times she is a great eater and other she is not). So I wouldn't be sure what others would like, so I would do it.
About favors - they might not realize, if they get something or not. But I would have stuff there for the kids to do. And if you feel like you should do something, you can always run to the dollar store and get bubbles, kites, crayons, coloring books, etc

Yeah I agree...I would just go out and get a pack of them from costco. However if the kids are all under age 1 then I wouldn't even bother.
As for the juice boxes. It's up to you really. I had about 16 kids last year and this year as well and this year we didn't get the juice boxes and we had no problems. So I don't think there is anything wrong if you got them. Maybe go to the supermarket and get just one or two packages of those Motts for tots juices. I think there are like 9 in each pack.
As for the favors. I would do them. Kids always like getting goody bags at parties.

Re: First b-day party with only a few kids coming
How old are the kids?
i had 3 kids at DD's 1st birthday last year and they were 10, 9 and 6. I didn't do favors nor cook any special food or buy juice boxes. I had hotdogs, hamburgers, ziti, sausage and peppers for dinner with some sides. They were fine.
This year i'll have the same kids plus some little ones under 2, still not doing anything special.
I think it's up to you and your budget. Personally, I NEVER give my DD chick nuggets and french fries at parties if there is better food for her to eat, which there always is.

Re: First b-day party with only a few kids coming
I'm not even positive how many kids are coming. A few 3-year-olds, a few infants, and maybe two or three toddlers.
Guess I'll do some chicken nuggets and juice boxes...thanks for the suggestions! I'm not having any entertainment for them b/c the party is at the building at a park, and *hopefully* the weather is going to be nice and they can play on the playground.
I'll have to think about the favors. The only problem is, with DH's family, I'd just imagine some children will show up who I didn't expect (not that they weren't invited, just that I didn't know they were coming) and I'd hate to leave them out if I get favors.

Re: First b-day party with only a few kids coming
I will have 7 kids at DD's party (all cousins except for 1) who range in age from 4 to 13. I am not doing special food or favors. Oh, and I think you may have posted about cake v. cupcakes too -- I am doing ice cream cupcakes from Maggie Moos. I personally love cupcakes -- we even had them at our wedding in place of a cake!
