First Communion Custom
Is it still customary for the parents or grandparents to give a girl a cross pendant for her communion? Is it passe? My DD will more than likely just wear it on religious occasions.

Re: First Communion Custom
My children got crosses from their godmothers for their Baptism...not sure if this is customary or not.

It just depends on what your family does. My daughter didn’t get anything like that for her Communion.

Same. For communion, they got a rosary, rosary box, small leather bible (my mother in law said they had to bring it on their honeymoon- yup just want you want to do on your honeymoon, read the Bible ), and cash.
Oops. Just read you asked about a girl. I only have boys. Not sure if it’s different.

Your MIL gave your 7/8 year old son a bible to bring on his future honeymoon? For his communion??

OP, I never received anything but cash for any sacraments. I don’t recall ever having a cross (if I did I never wore it) and I was certainly never gifted any bibles or other religious items. I think the holiest thing anyone ever gave me was precious moments stuff.

Not in our family. For Communion usually we just give cash.
