Sydney is 1 year and has 5 teeth so far, when should I take her for her first appointment?

Re: First Dentist Appointment
Totally depends on who you talk to. I was told by my pedi there was no reason to go that young unless there were issues with the teeth. Our pedi suggested between 2 and 3 years old.
My dentist told me that he will see him when he has all 20 of his baby teeth and will be willing to sit in the chair and have his teeth looked at. We plan on taking Andrew this spring. He will be 3.

Re: First Dentist Appointment
We took Jordan when he was 3. The dentist said that unless there is a problem they don't need to see them until all of their teeth are in. Our first appt our dentist took her time and did what my son wanted her to and didn't go to far as to scare him so that he wouldn't want to come back... she was amazing because he LOVES going to the dentist now

Re: First Dentist Appointment
when olivia was 6 months old i had a cleaning and brought her with me. i asked the same question and the dentist said as long as the teeth are growing in properly there is no reason to see a dentist until 3 years old. since they are baby teeth and will fall out there is no rush.

Re: First Dentist Appointment
I usually see my patients for their first visit at around 3 years old. I am in a general office.

Re: First Dentist Appointment
We (private practice and hospital dental clinic) usually start to see patients at about 3-4 years old unless there is a problem. It is a good idea to bring your child with you to one of your appointments so they can see the office and see that you are OK when you go to the dentist this will help them with their trust issues. Another good idea is to start slow, like exam or exam and cleaning even if small cavities exist (unless they are causing a problem) this helps the child build a relationship with the dentist and not be fearful
