First food aversion episode!

I made myself a HUGE, delicious looking salad and figured I'd stir-fry some chicken (for the protein) to put on top of it.

The chicken smelled so good as I was cooking it, but the *second* I put a piece in my mouth and started chewing, I started gagging and had to spit it out. It was well cooked -I think it was the texture that got to me. I've made this several times since I've been pregnant and it's never bothered me before.

I guess I'll have to find a new protein source. Any suggestions? (Peanut butter is out right now - I'm too scared of the salmonella episodes going on, regardless of what is listed as "safe")

Re: First food aversion episode!

isn't that the WORST? I made a whole egg salad one night, tried a tiny spoonful and was nauseous the rest of the night. So I threw it out.Chat Icon

hmmm protein....how about eggs? Hopefully you won't feel the same as I did!

Mmmmmm - egg salad...... YUM! I love eggs, but have never made egg salad myself - do you have a good recipe? I usually get mine from the Bagel Boss down the road.

That's what we just had for dinner except I broiled the chicken with some nice nice cajun spices!

Egg salad is simple. I just do hard boiled eggs, mayo (until it looks right), a little garlic powder and onion powder, pepper, parsley for color and sometimes I'll do a squirt of spicy mustard and/or a dash of white vinegar.

I like it plain like that but if you like crunchy, you can add onions or celery.

Re: First food aversion episode!

i have a really hard time with chicken too.

i find that I don't even want dinner most of the time. I can eat a meal for either lunch or dinner, but not both. I get full very quickly. I usually just have fruit or some veggies for dinner on the days that I eat a full lunch.

Since I couldn't have tuna, I used to buy the pouches of Salmon. Bonus for the Omega3.

What about tofu? It's great in stir fry and soft too.

that's a good salad protein - maybe with some cheese too.

i'm a vegetarian so all of my protein sources are beans, dairy, and tofu/wheat gluten. i don't know if those are what you're looking for.

I will be 20 weeks next week and cant even cook chicken. The thought just makes me gag.

Ive been eating cheese, eggs, and egg salad for protein.
I even talked to my dr. about it. He said "Yep. Food aversions"...He mentioned salmon (I think), but, I am not a fish eater either. LOL

I am loving my pasta and believe it or not, I can deal with ground turkey..turkey burgers, turkey meatloaf, etc.

Once a in a while, I'll have beef.

The past few days I throw out EVERYTHING I try to eat, it all makes me sick, except for pizza! But it has to be a Brooklyn slice.

The same thing happened to me, I made a chicken pannini and was all set to eat it and I took one bite and thought I was going to throw up! I threw the whole thing out and made pancakes Chat Icon
