First Grade Teachers: Must Haves
This will be my fjirst year teaching 1st grade after teaching 4th grade for 11 years. What are some must haves for a first grade classroom? I have no idea what I should buy!

Haha we are going opposite ways,...I am going to 3rd!
I would think you might need:
-a behavior mod system
-baskets for organization
-craft supplies --if your school does not have---
-word wall,...I say make you own with sentence strips
-calendar/days of the week/months
-money manipulatives/time
It all depends on what your school gives you.
Oh and don't forget CHART PAPER!

Manipulatives such as magnetic letters, plastic pointers, phonics/phonemic awareness games. A lot of organizational things like baskets, cups for pencils to sharpen and a really, really durable pencil sharpener, sentence strips, index cards, blank big books (that the kids can write in), pillows and bean bag chair for comfy reading areas, stickers...lots of them, primary capital and lower case letters for the wall, and finally tissues. As many as they bring in they use twice as much all year long
