Nobody 30 years ago anticipated that the housing market would take the turn that it did. Nobody could predict that the economy would be the way it is and the buying of a house would be so difficult. Does that mean that the fault lies with us? Why should we not reap the benefits of our labor? You seem to be under the impression that because it's now "your turn" that you are entitled to certain benefits because it is harder for you. Maybe we all should just ask you what you think we should sell our homes for. BOO HOO! If you think it is unfair that you have to struggle longer, too bad. Life is unfair and that's the way it goes. We bought our home when we were young like you and if you think it hasn't been a struggle for us just because of the price we paid, you need to think again. (FYI, I live in a modest 3 bedroom, 2 bath ranch on 1/4 acre).
You need to grow up and stop whining. If it's too tough for you here, then go some place else. Just don't expect people to bend over and kiss their assets goodbye because you can't afford a home here.
WOW that was wayyy harsh.
while that may be harsh, it is absolutely true!!!!!!!

Re: First home price drop in 11 years
I am at a loss over this thread. I can't believe the same nonsense over and over.
There are plenty of houses out there right now that are affordable. Yes - they may not be your "Dream" home - but they are in good condition and you can make it your own home.
For those that are renting and looking for that perfect home right now - you are just paying someone else's mortgage when that money could be going towards your own.
Nothing in this world is perfect. Not people. Not houses. Nothing. I am not saying to settle for something that you will hate - but look at the POTENTIAL of something. Look at the area. The schools. See what you can make of it with your own personal touch.
Yes - buyers have an advantage right now - there is 80% more inventory on the market right now - than there was last year. Use that to your advantage. And, people buy homes as investments. They are going to do what they can do make money off of it.
I can't wait for the day when all of you have you're own homes....how the tables will turn on these posts!
ETA: I paid a significant amount for my home last year. I WILL NOT sell it until I can make a profit. We have already put in 40K (on a home that was in DIAMOND condition) - and there is no way I will be selling it without making above and beyond what I put into it.
