first iui
i guess it's official, i really do belong on this board. i just got back from my first visit with dr. brenner. He said that my cervix was very narrow and we probably won't conceive on our own. he is going to schedule an iui for next cycle. anyone that has had this done, and i am sure i am on the right board, can you please give me all your info.

good luck - an IUI is the least invasive treatment. you may take some drugs (clomid) to increase the number of eggs, you will have some daily monitoring (blood and sono) and then they insert the washed sperm when you ovulate and hopefully get a bfp

Exactly as Red said...they will monitor you for the first cycle and if you ovulate on your own, they will probably have you use OPK's to time the IUI.
They may bump you to Clomid or injectables if you don't get PG quickly, just to up the number of follicles or eggs and increase your chances with each cycle.

the doctor said that he wasn't going to have me use clomid because my cervix is narrow and he said that i probably don't have a lot of cm (which i usually don't) and the clomid will dry it up even more. are there any other drugs that i could take to increase ovulation without drying up cm?

They may do a natural IUI cycle and see how you're ovulating through OPKs or they could put you on an injectable medication for the IUI.
Either way, good luck. And the IUI is just like a pap, no big deal!
