first iui
My husband and I will be doing our first IUI this week...I'm feeling like it's not going to do anything, but we're trying it anyway cause it is covered by insurance but IVF is not. We may have male factor infertility 2 abnormal SA and 1 totally normal, no reason as to why. We have 1 DD who we got pregnant with naturally the first month we tried, and now we've been trying for 19 months.
I guess I just don't see how this is really going to help us. I'm choosing to do the very first one a natural cycle to decrease chance of multiples and just to try, then next month thinking clomid. What do you ladies think? I feel like I'm trying not to get my hopes up like oh it's not going to work and then in the back of my mind really hoping it does...

Re: first iui
Even though you have probably had it by now, I wish you lots of luck!
First time IUI's can work, it happened to me! Be optimistic!

Re: first iui
I got pregnant on my first IUI with clomid in 09 = DS. I've been trying for # 2 with no luck and moving onto IVF.
IUI's do work.

Re: first iui
Probably too late for advice on this cycle but IUI works! I tried to get pregnant for over a year and a half with no luck. I had my first IUI in January and got pregnant! Sadly I lost the pregnancy at 8w but I did another IUI on July 2nd and I'm currently 6w5d pregnant! I only had one SA done and everything was above average except the motility was extremely low!!! I did Clomid both times. In January I produced 3 follicles, 1 leading/mature at time of IUI. This time I produced 6 all mature follicles! I was warned about the risk of multiples and even told that if more then two took I would need to reduce. Well only 1 took (both times) so don't be too scared of multiples; however, the chance is there so you do need to be prepared. I hope that since it seems to be male infertility that the natural IUI works. But stay positive! Keep us posted!!!
