First month off BCP
For all the ladies who came off of BCP after being on it for along time (10+ years), what was your longest cycle before getting AF and did anyone actually get pregnant during one of these crazy long cycles? I am now at CD42 of my first month off and I'm getting very frustrated. I've tested twice and gotten negatives. I have an appt with my Dr in a week and a half and I am just worried that something is wrong. I know it takes several months to get back on track and if your cycles were irregular before BCP they probably won't be regular off of it again. I vaguely remember them being longer than 28 days, but certainly not as long as 42.
I guess I just want to get it already so we can start to really TTC.

Re: First month off BCP
I know - its so frustrating. I was on it for about 8 yrs. I did not have a long cycle though. This is my 3rd month off and this cycle that I have right now was 31 days. But prior I have had around 27 days.
Everyone is diff. so it will just take its own course to get out of your system.
Good luck!

Re: First month off BCP
Luckily for me, when i went off the pill, having been on it for 11 years, my cycle went right back to normal (31 days).
Everyone is different though. I know people who went off bcp and they didn't get their period for 45 days or so. It happens. It doesn't mean there is anything wrong. It's just your body adjusting.

Re: First month off BCP
I was lucky too that my cycles were normal after coming off BCP (I was on it 10 years). My 1st month was 26 days, my 2nd and 3rd month was 24 days and I got PG my 4th month off BCP.
I have def heard of it taking a while the 1st month off BCP to get AF. It might take a while for your body to adjust to not having those hormones in it.

Re: First month off BCP
I have been off the pill since April & at first my cycles seemed quite normal. I averaged out at 31 days but last month I had a freak month & got AF on CD42. I was getting quite fustrated & thought I was PG. I drove my Dr insane but she told me that I was stressing too much & that was delaying AF. Once I stopped stressing, AF came. With not being on the pill, so much can affect you being late & having a late ovulation.
You have probably heard this a million times, but try to relax. You will see your doctor next week & you can discuss your concerns.

Re: First month off BCP
Thanks for the replies ladies. It's just even more frustrating when I seem to hear more stories about people going right back to a normal cycle than people having extra long cycles like I'm having. If I had known, I would have gone off of them back in June or July. Silly me thinking my body would cooperate with our plans!
I'm just wondering if my gyno will do any tests if i still haven't gotten it by the time my appt comes around (I will be on CD54 by that time).

I would think that if you don't have AF by the time you see your Dr, she will run some bloodwork.
Our bodies have mysterious ways of working with our minds. Just when we want things, that is when things go a stray

Re: First month off BCP
Do you think I should call the Dr's office back and alert them that I am having this issue? Right now the appt is just my 6-month checkup.

I would wait until the week of your appt. If AF is not here, the I would call to just see if they want u to go for bloodwork ahead of time...
