First RE visit next week - first steps?
Hi, I know there are several posts on this, but I have some specific questions. I have an appt with Dr. Pena at East Coast Fertility next week. I was pregnant back in May-June, but unfortunately m/c at 8 weeks. I'm 35, will be 36 in a few months, so I have made the decision to see a specialist even though I know I was able to get pregnant once. My fear is more frustrating months ahead (it took over 6 mos to get pg, which at my age, is considered long) and I also have a fear of m/c again. Therefore, I want to go to see a specialist now as opposed to wasting 6 more months and getting even older. If there is an issue, I want to address it now.
My question is, do you think he will push IUI on me right away? DH is not thrilled with my going as it is, he feels I am jumping the gun and that I was able to get pg, so I should relax. I don't agree....I'm just curious what they recommend for someone in my situation. DH had a SA back in May and it was fine, so just not sure what they will do.
Thanks in advance for your help and best of luck to all of you!!

Re: First RE visit next week - first steps?
I have no advice other than to go with you gut instinct, which you are doing, and address all of your concerns. The fear and anxiety of the unknown can't help you get pregnant, so I am glad you are taking the steps you need.
Endless for you!

Re: First RE visit next week - first steps?
Hmmm...not sure what course of treatment they would recommend for you, it depends on your history, cycles, etc. But I think its great that you are seeking help and not wasting any time...your DH will get on board, don't worry. My DH wasn't thrilled either but now he's 100% for it because he sees how we're getting results (well not a BFP yet but we're on the right track). Best of luck to you!!!

thank you - and what kind of dog is that in your avatar, is it a scottie? He has the same face as my dog (from years ago), he was a mix.

Re: First RE visit next week - first steps?
He will definitely set you up for a full blood workup - if you are charting, bring your charts cuz he will want to see them and he will most likely have your DH go for a blood workup also along with a semen analysis. Explain your concerns...they may just monitor you with sonograms and blood for a couple of months before they get more aggressive.
Good luck!!

She's actually a maltese/poodle mix - depending on her haircut she can look like a lot of different breeds.

Re: First RE visit next week - first steps?
I have my first visit with an RE next week too. My gyn sent me to him because the met is not working... she told me that they might want to do IUI becauase the next step would be Clomid and the clomid dries up CM... I am not sure if I would want to do IUI right away either - on one hand I know it give me a slightly better advantage of getting pg, but on the other hand I have a limited amt of money for IF with my insurance, and I don't want to start using it up if I can concieve naturally with Clomid... I guess I will wait until next week and see what the RE has to say. Good luck!!
