FIrst Rice feeding-need HELP from BTDT Mommies!!

My Pediatrician told me 2 TBSP. of rice cereal to 1 oz. breastmilk. Um...that's not working, it's like glue..... My poor DD is all ready in her seat and everything! HELP!

I would try and see if she'll take it like that- or add a little bit more formula to make it a little thinner, but not too thin. Just basically stick it to the roof of her mouth. When I first tried cereal with DD, I made it really watery thinking that making it like her bottle would make it easier to swallow. I was wrong- it was easier for her to swallow when it was thicker!

My ped said to make it the consistency of applesauce. I found that was about 1 tbsl of rice cereal to about 1 oz. of formula/BM. Also -- don't expect her to take 2 tbls the very first time -- most books recommed a tsp for the very first time!

Thanks so much ladies! We added another almost full ounce of BM to the 2 Tbsp of cereal and she ate half and probably could have eaten more! Her first face was very funny but then she liked it! I think we will do 1 Tbsp. to 1 oz. of BM from now on!
