first round of bloodwork for me today

The doctor was horrified i waited so long to get bloodwork done. I am not exaggerating. She said after 7 years of no protection and at least 8 months if trying at 33 I should of been tested. DH being 40 should of been tested as well a while ago. She said normally people push for testing so soon!

So first round of bloodwork was today, I got back with I ovulate, then go back for a third time. Meanwhile trying to get DH to go get his swimmies tested is a freaking battle. He doesn't want to do it at home and feels sick that they suggested doing it in a baby food jar. He said its not the act of doing it that bothers him its the fact its not "official or medical" he wants to go into a office and be tested properly. Told him to call the damn lab in Hicksville to ask if they can accommodate him then and I am really not in the mindset to hold his hand on this.

Anyway my main question is these ovulation test kits - when do i start using them? After my last day of my period? Sorry so dumb but haven't even gone out to get one yet.

as far as OPKs, you use them based on cycle length. I have a post in my notebook here but the link is invalid now. But if you do a google search you can probably find the info about what CD to start on based on cycle length. For me a 26 day cycle it said to start on CD10.

Move onto the infertility board. You will get tons of answers there or ask me I'm going through IF right now. Opks get the clear blue easy digital ones the one withe the Order from amazon. They are the cheapest there. What is your cycle length from start to finish? I'm a 28-30 day so I start testing day 10. Day 1 is full flow not when you are spotting. Are you seeing a RE? If so your dh can make an appt and give the sample there.

Also besides bloodwork get a sono and a hsg done. That'll tell if your tubes are blocked and the sono will tell if you are producing follicles (eggs) and if you have any fibroids or cysts which have to be removed. And smack your dh and tell him to stop whining all he has to do is jerk off into a cup not a baby jar which your dr will provide and get bloodwork. You are the one that's going to get poked and prodded

I recommend the CBEFM to predict ovulation. It's a bit pricey but you start (at least the first cycle) on CD6 and it tests your LH and estrogen. Plus it's only one stick a day with FMU easy peasy. I got miy monitor on ebay for like half the price (it was used but the pee end of the stick gets covered with a cap before you put it in so it's not like you're touching someone elses pee!) I get the sticks cheaper on Amazon. Good luck!

how regular is ur cycle? if pretty regular i would start on cd 10

as for dh he can def do it in a lab bc my dh did
