First round of IVF a big negative!
I know a lot of you have been getting bfps. I was hoping to keep the trend going,...but I am counting on you all.
Can I ask how many rounds of IVF you all go through before a positive? I want to know what went wrong. How will the doctor know what to change? What test should I ask for?
I did IVF with PGD this time. I am thinking the PGD can decrease embryo quality. They were two blasocysts put back in....what went wrong!
I am a teacher, do I wait till next summer or do it during the year?

Re: First round of IVF a big negative!
To be honest, even in perfect conditions you really have a 50/50 chance of it working. Just because it didn't work this time doesn't necessarily mean something went wrong ... it's just that no IVF cycle is ever guaranteed.
If I were you I would NOT wait till next summer to give it another round!!! I did IVF during the school year and it was totally manageable... Of course it's easier to do during the school year, but it's not impossible to work around if that's what you choose to do.
Again, I'm so sorry for the BFN

I am so sorry . I agree with the other ladies, I would not wait. I am a teacher also and I made it work. Only snafo may be if your building begins really early. Many prayers going your way.

I'm sorry! Personally, I wouldn't wait. You just don't know how long it will take. If you're ready for a baby now, I'd make that the priority.

I just wanted to say that I am sorry. I know how much it stings Our first IVF ended in a c/p and it is just such a disapointment. I wouldn't wait- I would jump right back in. I am not a teacher- but managed my cycle just fine while working full time.

I'm sorry about your cycle
I am a teacher and did three rounds of IVF during school last year. I only missed 7 days the whole year. I timed the second two transfers to fall during breaks.
You can make it happen. I would never be able to wait, but do what is right for you.

Re: First round of IVF a big negative!
I was devastated after my first IVF failed. About a week after my BFN I went in and met with the doctor to see what could be changed or done a little differently. We came up with a new plan which incidentally wasn't too different from my original protocol. I took about 2 months off and then did my second IVF which resulted in a BFP. I'm now 30 weeks along.
Personally, I wouldn't wait until next summer to do a second round of IVF. You could definitely take a month or longer off if you wanted too, but I think a year is too long when it comes to trying to conceive.

Re: First round of IVF a big negative!
i went through IVF once and BFN like you. This time I was set for IVF but my cycle was converted to IUI because I made so few follies. I was hoping this summer would be my silver bullet, but I'm not going to put off trying just because the school year is starting up again. Keep going. It's manageable.

Re: First round of IVF a big negative!
Doing ivf while teaching is very manageable. I did 4 rounds last year (2 fresh 2 frozen)
and as others have said, it could be that nothing needs to be changed. IVF is not a sure thing.
#1 fresh, MC #2 frozen BFN #3 frozen MC #4 fresh 29w
keep your spirits up. I know how hard it is. Good luck

Re: First round of IVF a big negative!
I'm a teacher as well who went through a lot of testing and had several iuis done throughout the school year. I spoke to my principal to make her aware of what was going on and she worked with me and my schedule. When I had an early appt she would move my prep or switich my lunch. If I had to leave in the afternoon she would find me coverage. I have to admit I was lucky but if you feel comfortable speak with admin and maybe they can work something out for you. I wish you the best in whatever you decide to do. Hope you get some positive news soon!
