First Sonogram Question
I had my first sonogram today at 6 weeks and 6 days pregnant. We saw the heartbeat! It was very exciting. However, the doctor said he wanted me to come back in two weeks for another sonogram and that he didn't want to give me a due date until then. He said a lot will happen in the next two weeks, that the baby is just millimeters right now and that it will be a lot more accurate in two weeks. Does this sound right?

First Sonogram Question
My OB woudln't see me until 8 weeks; BUT due to some early spotting I had to come in at 6 weeks. I had ultrasounds both times and they told me a due date within 1 day each time. My OB continues to go off the date from the 8 week ultrasound.

First Sonogram Question
i was seeing a RE so i had a sonogram every week from 5w up until 8w. then i started seeing my OBGYN, but because of my high risk issues, i was still getting a sonogram every week from 8w to 10w. After 10 weeks, i waited 2 weeks and had another sono at 12w for the NT Scan. Just because you have another sono scheduled doesn't mean its a bad thing, just that you get to see your LO again!

Thanks! I was more wondering whether it's typical to wait until closer to 9 weeks to give a due date? He said he could do it now but it would be more accurate in two weeks.

Re: First Sonogram Question
Yeah, my doctor wouldn't even see me until 8 weeks for that reason and then I came back the following week and they changed the due date... only by a few days so nothing major. It's just easier to be accurate further along. But just think now you get to see your LO again in only two weeks!

First Sonogram Question
My OB wouldn't see me until 8 weeks. Like he said, things will be more accurate when you go back.

First Sonogram Question
Yup, the sono closer to 8 weeks is the most accurate as far as dating the baby goes. With DD, I was exactly 8 weeks at my first appointment (according to the measurement) -- date was pretty dead-on. DD was born 1 day early.
This time, I had a sono and the baby measured 7 w 5 d. I went back a week later and the measurement was exactly a week later.
It's tough to wait, but so worth it!!!!
