First time mommy with a first time sick infant
My DD is 3 months. We flew to Florida last week so she could meet her ill grandfather. I believe she caught a cold from the plane even though I tried everything to prevent it
Anyway it has now been 6 days of a horribly stuffy nose, sneezing and coughing and just plain miserable. I use a saline spray and aspirator and the amount that comes out is unbelievable. It even has tinges of. Blood in the snot
I took her to dr 2 days ago and he said her lungs were clear and she haasnt had a fever but her nose was stuffed and her throat a lil red. She was moaning in her sleep and you can hear her struggling to breathe through her nose
I have the humidifier also. But my heart is breaking. What can I do for her? How much longer will this last? Do I bring her back to the dr? Are these symptoms really just a cold? I just want my baby back to her happy, healthy self

Sit in the bathroom with her while you run the shower on the hottest setting, the steam will help her a lot with the stuffiness. Other than that, keep doing what you are doing. Poor baby

So sorry she's going through this!! Hope she feels better soon!
No advice (as you know, my DD is a month younger than yours, so what could I know?) but I think you've just convinced me to agree with DH and not bring DD to Chicago for my step sister's wedding in May.

Yea we were told humidifier, seeing if you can get her to sleep a little elevated, vicks baby rub on chest and feet, tylenol if she seemed overly uncomfortable, saline spray and aspirator. Basically it just has to run its course.

You know I have been beating myself up over taking her on the plane but fil is very ill and cannot travel and it would have killed us if he never got to meet her. I did everything to prevent sickness. Gave her a bath and changed her clothes as soon as we got to fil house. I didn't let anyone touch her, etc. I guess it was unavoidable. Of course tomorrow is my first day back at work if it is not 100% necessary I would suggest staying away from planes until they are older

This is what I do for DS when he has a cold...and what's I've been doing since his 1st cold. Elevating when she's sleeping is keyy it'll help her breathe easier.

Jess, you did the right thing taking her there!!! Meeting her grandfather is super important!!!
Think of it this way: her immune system will be stronger now because she is going through this. That's a good thing, despite how tough it is now!

DEFINITELY elevate...at night - cold humidifier....or since it's raining - open window....

Re: First time mommy with a first time sick infant
Sorry to hear this...DS has had 2 colds already, regardless of all the precautions I took.
I made sure he was elevated at night, humidifier, Vicks Baby on the chest and saline every 2 hours during the day followed by the aspirator - he HATES it but it really sucks out all of the mucas.
