Fit bit vs jawbone
I am getting the fitbit charge. It has a heart rate monitor in it which I super important to me. The flex only measures your steps. It won't be accurate for me because it won't measure my CrossFit activities or any of the classes that I teach. It would only be useful when I go running.
I read a few bad reviews on the jawbone falling off easily or not syncing.

Neither IMO. To me they don't really do anything. They are not very accurate. The are only good for tracking steps. We got them free at work and I see people actually gaining weight because they think they are being fit now.

Re: Fit bit vs jawbone
I lost two fitbits due to them falling off. The first was a zip that was clipped to my waistband, then I got a flex figuring that would be less likely to fall off but I still lost it. I also didn't love that with the flex you had to go online or on the app on your phone to see your actual number of steps for the day. The lights on the band only indicate every two thousand steps you walk.

Re: Fit bit vs jawbone
I just bought the Fitbit Charge a few days ago. I did a lot of research and the Jawbone and Fitbit Flex didn't have little digital screens to show me any progress, whereas the Charge does. There's also the ChargeHR that measures your heartrate but it's about $100 more than the regular Charge, so I decided against it just from the monetary standpoint.
So far I really like it. On the band itself, it measures steps, distance walked, flights climbed and tells me the time. Also, if a call comes in on my phone, the band has a Caller ID feature. The app has more features that sync with it, including a sleep monitor which is pretty important to me.
You can also sync the app with My Fitness Pal, Map My Run and about twenty other fitness-related apps.
I see it being a motivator for me. I'm already on a good workout streak now that my doctors gave me clearance for it, so this is a little something extra to use as I get my body back from dealing with cancer.

Re: Fit bit vs jawbone
I have the Fit bit and it is a PITA. Doesn't always sync and never alerts me of anything. I have a separate Polar HR Monitor I use to measure HR and calories.
