Flood Ins. question

Ok, so we fall into the flood zone now, yay for us. Our insurance agent gave us a price of 388 dollars for the policy, which is a no brainer, we're going to get it, but do we pay the 388 every year, or does it shoot up to like 2K next time we have to pay? I'd ask her, but she's out of the office till next week. Does anyone know? because obviously the 388 is discounted and if we don't get it, it'll be 2K starting September 25

Our house has always been in a flood zone and we have paid the same amount each year. When my ILs owned the house before us they paid the same amount each year also.

Re: Flood Ins. question

We bought our house in 2003 (south of Merrick Road) and our flood insurance has gone up every year.

We get a letter every year from our mortgage company telling us we need to increase the policy to keep up with current FEMA standards.

It goes up a few bucks every year. I think we started out around $350 and now after 6 years, we're up to $400 or so.

Re: Flood Ins. question

are you in Nassau? We're starting to house hunt in Nassau (South of Merrick Rd) and I too am wondering how much to expect for flood insurance now.

Re: Flood Ins. question

Yes, if you are in Nassau and live south of Merrick, most likely you will have to get flood insurance.
